If winter comes, can Uniqlo be far behind?
Anya Hindmarch’s darning stitches and embroidered eyes meet Uniqlo’s LifeWear staples, just in time for somewhere nippy.

Uniqlo joining forces with British designer Anya Hindmarch hits all the proper notes. The sweetest statement to our ears is how Hindmarch’s dose of whimsy gets injected into the brand’s reliable staples. It simply means that we, the followers of the Japanese brand, get to see a refreshing take on winter fashion that is as functional as it is fun.
The “Uniqlo x Anya Hindmarch” winter 2024 collection, with “An Eye for Curiosity” as the season’s theme, features a fusion of Hindmarch’s craftsmanship with a hint of playfulness and Uniqlo functionality. The collection highlights include knitwear and outerwear designed with unique details like darning snipped stitches, patches and iconic motifs; with key items such as Pufftech jackets (lightweight, water-resistant, with playful details like embroidered eyes and multiple pockets); Merino crew sweater and cardigan (made from 100 percent extra-fine merino wool, available in versatile colors); Heattech accessories (scarves, beanies, gloves, and socks, all enhanced with Anya’s signature playful designs); and packable bag (functional and compact, ideal for travel or errands).

What was the seed for the collection? Interestingly, it’s us — the brand’s followers: people who not only love to travel but are committed to traveling in style.
“Uniqlo always looks or listens to its customers,” says Reiny Vergara, Uniqlo Philippines head of PR and Sustainability. “One of our philosophies is really to be customer-centric, to evolve with our customers.” She adds how the brand aims to collaborate with designers who have a strong fashion resonance. Imagine how people will gravitate to that blend of Uniqlo’s minimalist silhouettes with Anya’s well-crafted yet fun and playful designs. Truly a meeting of the minds.

When asked what her favorite is in the entire collection, she answers, “Personally, I love what I’m wearing! The vibrant colors add a cheerful pop during colder seasons when everything tends to feel darker. I also admire the outerwear in this collection, particularly the jackets made with our new ‘Pufftech’ technology. They’re lightweight yet warm, sustainable (made from recycled nylon and fibers), and built to last. These pieces reflect our commitment to both innovation and environmental responsibility.”
In a statement, Anya Hindmarch explained, “I’ve loved collaborating with Uniqlo again, working with their iconic knits and outerwear. Once again, we’ve played with their silhouettes; deconstructing and then rebuilding them with darning stitches, knitted-in patches and unexpected details, creating special designs, always with a touch of fun.”
Reiny elaborates on how LifeWear is all about creating timeless, high-quality pieces that evolve with their customers’ needs. And this partnership with Anya Hindmarch perfectly aligns with that philosophy. “Her playful designs are something we know our customers will love, while the collection’s functionality — like warm merino wool, knitted cardigans, beanies and Heattech socks — makes it ideal for the fall season. This collaboration marries thoughtful design with everyday practicality, staying true to LifeWear’s customer-centric approach.”
In an era where fashion is increasingly about self-expression and functionality, this collaboration hits the sweet spot. With its blend of playfulness, versatility and universal appeal, the pieces by Uniqlo encourage wearers like us to travel (wishfully, hopingly) to Japan or somewhere nippy — and to embrace the colder months with a warm heart.
And, if you’ve been nice instead of naughty this entire year, perhaps you’d get a wink from one of Hindmarch’s iconic embroidered eyes.
